New Email Authentication Changes you need to make

Have you heard about the authentication changes taking place this February? 

Google and Yahoo are bringing in new regulations to make sure best practices are required for email senders, particularly bulk email senders (ie business accounts). 

Your emails will need to tick new authentication requirements to be able to be effectively sent and not land straight in someone’s spam!  

This isn’t anything to panic about, but you mustn’t ignore this and make the necessary changes so your business emails are not affected. Failure to make the necessary changes may mean your customer communication is affected.

Please don’t worry or get bamboozled by the tech language, I promise it is easy enough to get sorted, and i’ve included all the information you need:

1) GET YOUR EMAIL VALIDATED
You need to verify the domain you use for your email through your email provider. The technical messages you may have seen will say that you ‘need to verify the domains using DKIM and DMARC’, but essentially this means you will need to add some new records (called DNS records) to your domain server. If this sounds like jargon don’t worry, I have attached a step by step guide below:

2) MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A VALID BUSINESS DOMAIN

You need to make sure you are using a valid domain for your business email, and one that links to a website. If you are currently using an @gmail.com or @yahoo.com or @outlook.com you will need to move over to a business domain asap.

Although an inconvenience, once sorted these changes will hopefully aid our email marketing efforts and make it easier for legitimate emails like ours to land in the right people’s inboxes.
