Social media marketing is ever-evolving!
Gone are the days of posting a few pretty stock images to kick-start conversations with your followers and entice a new audience into your world.
Nowadays, videos are key to communicating with your crowd and showing the online world what YOUR brand is all about.
In this blog, I’ll share some top tips for creating quick Reels and TikTok videos.
Let’s go!
What are Instagram Reels?
Reels are short, fun, immersive videos that can help you creatively showcase your brand, educate your audience, share valuable content, and get discovered by people who may love what you do!
They allow you to foster relationships with your existing audience AND create new connections with prospective customers or clients.
I think a lot of people hear ‘video’ and instantly think, “Oh no. That’s not for my brand!” or, “Eek, I’m far too shy to put myself out there like that!”
But reels don’t have to be scary. And there are SO many different ways to use them without you even having to be IN them!
Top tip #1
Done is better than perfect!
We’ve all seen those amazing Reels that look so good and just convey the vibe of a brand effortlessly.
But we’re left thinking, “How the heck am I supposed to do something like that?”
So, my first top tip is this…. try and avoid getting caught up in the pursuit of perfection.
Instead, strive to be authentic and relatable to get YOUR message across.
Done and posted is way more important than stress, procrastination and ‘perfect’, right?
Top Tip #2
Think long-term exposure
Reels allow us to create eye-catching content quickly, be discovered by a new audience AND achieve long-term exposure.
And the great news is creating quick Reels is easy if you have some great ideas in your pocket!
Here are a few to get you started…
#1 Overlay an inspirational quote on a scenic shot you took recently.
#2 Jump on the latest trend in your niche.
#3 Use Canva templates. If you search ‘Reels’ in the template section, you’ll get hundreds of templates you can use… and loads of inspiration!
#4 Create a 15-second video of you offering a tip.
#5 Bust a myth in your industry or about one of your products or services.
#6 Share your story. Why do you do what you do?
#7 Answer a FAQ.
#8 Share a testimonial
#9 List 5 reasons your audience should or shouldn’t be doing something
#10 With Christmas just around the corner, how about showing videos of your products in action? People are more likely to picture THEMSELVES using it and be attracted to your brand.
#11 Put together short clips of your team in action.
Top Tip #3
Use TikTok videos to grow your biz!
TikTok has experienced massive growth in the last couple of years. By the end of 2022, it’s expected to reach 1.8 billion monthly active users. WOW!
If you’re not comfortable using TikTok to create short-form videos to promote your brand just yet, I’ll walk you through the basics to help you hop on the app and reach a brand-new audience!
#1 Go and find brands, businesses and influencers in a similar niche but not direct competition. Look at the types of videos they’re posting and create a bank of ideas.
#2 Play around with the different functions, such as recording speed, filters, effects, and stickers, to add a fun element to your content.
#3 Use the 3 or 10-second timer if you want to record hands-free and look like a pro!
#4 Practice and nail the 15-second video before attempting the longer 60-second duration.
#5 Add sounds. Check out my previous blog to find out more about how to use trending audio to your advantage.
#6 Don’t forget to add captions and hashtags to increase your discoverability. While you’re building your account, aim for hashtags with tens or hundreds of thousands of followers.
#7 Select a cover to make an attractive thumbnail
#8 Remember you can also share your TikTok videos on Insta and other social media platforms
#9 Try to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Only a small proportion of people love to be in front of the camera and show off their thing! The rest of us have to build up some courage to do it, but the benefits are HUGE!
Remember that the videos we create on Instagram and TikTok are short. So even if you feel like a right ninny doing it, the ick factor will be over before you know it. Just smile and think about how this newfound engagement with your brand is going to benefit YOU!
